To begin the year, I committed to doing #12experiments - new, daily challenges each month. January (waking up at 7AM/blogging everyday) and February (no inbound meetings) went off without a hitch and I was happy with how those affected my routine.
Meditating, on the other hand, is a bitch.
I don’t just suck at meditating - the act itself - I also particularly suck at taking the time to do it.
My mentor and meditation guru informed me that, he too, sucked at meditating when he first started and since he knows me very well, accurately guessed that I wasn’t making it a part of a routine… as if I have anything that is remotely ‘routine’ in my life beyond 5 straight weeks at airports (thanks for the badge, foursquare!).
So… my super-cool plan to meditate during March - a month in which I will be on the road for literally 20 days - was just plain dumb.
But that’s ok. These wouldn’t be challenges if I didn’t fail sometimes. However, I am going to keep trying and I may make it an ongoing challenge into April (though perhaps not everyday).
Of course, any meditation in April is probably just going to be about the burgers I can’t eat (as a vegetarian for the month), but I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
